This morning I was running a little bit behind and Abney was awake a little bit early. We normally don't get to see each other during the week except in the evening. We had some giggles and hugs and I was still rushing around like I normally do. I gave her good-bye love and she went upstairs to check on her Daddy.
I was about ten minutes down the road when I receive a text message that says, "You didn't say bye to Abney?" WHAT!? I responded that I did and quickly got back, "She says you didn't."
I'm a full-time working mom who battles ATLANTA traffic 28 miles each way. Already running behind. What do you think I did?
Of course I turned around! Why? Perception is reality and if my little girl thinks I left without saying good-bye to her and making her feel special and important I will ALWAYS make it right. She is worth turning around for, worth sitting in traffic, and will always be my number one priority.
When I got back and immediately found her waiting at the back door still looking for me I knew that the deposit I was making in her love bank that day would be remembered. I know she will not remember this morning as an actual memory, but she will grow up knowing that her mommy loves her and that hugs and kisses with her are the sweetest spot in my day.
