We can officially announce that we are expecting a baby girl! Ben and I are very excited and cannot wait to meet her. Every week that passes this experience becomes more and more real. I am anxiously awaiting the day I feel her first kick, although I'm not sure how happy I will be after the first 1,000. :)
This weekend Ben and I spent time around the house and our first day at the community pool. We had a birthday celebration for one of our neighbors and it was so fun to see everyone and spend some time in the sun. We've had so much rain this year I was not sure if we would ever get a chance to enjoy the pool. Hopefully the Vitamin D will do me some good!
Today I am working hard on picking out paint colors for the house. The second trimester has been much easier and I am enjoying the ability to run errands and eat normal food finally. Our goal is to take advantage of this time and finish projects so I have nothing to complain about once I am laid up in the third trimester. So for our guests we now have fans in both rooms and plan to have all paint complete by the end of June. I am so excited to have these projects complete because next on the list is the nursery and I will need lots of guests to help me pick out the cutest little girl necessities and to figure out what qualifies as a "necessity."
Back to work...

Memorial Day Weekend
Wow, why can't all weekends be three days long? It is amazing what a few days in the mountains can do for your sanity. We spent the weekend at Camp David with our friends Stephen, Sarah and Rex Gardner. It was decided somewhat last minute and we were all so glad we were able to get together and despite the rain have a great time together. The puppies swam and chased balls, the boys pretended to fish, and Sarah and I got extra naps in!
On Saturday we woke up late and I grabbed a cup of coffee to join Sarah and Ben on the dock. Naturally as soon as I sat down in my chair it happened to be on the rotten spot and I got thrown forward and pitched over the edge. Somehow I managed to save myself and the baby from tumbling into the depths below (debatable if falling in would have hurt less than my Texas size bruise). It must have been my motherly instinct because I have not worked out since March and have zero arm muscles but somehow managed to hold myself up and protect my stomach. Needless to say I did not spend any more time on the dock. :)
After breakfast at The Grill we headed to Dupont Forest to see Hooker and Triple Falls. The last time we were there was three years ago right after Ben proposed. It has become somewhat of a special spot now and I really look forward to the first time we are there with our little one. Every day it seems like we are getting closer and we cannot wait to be a family. It is definitely going to be an adjustment when it is not just the two of us and our animeaux, but I think it is going to be well worth it.Sunday we had some rain but that made sleeping in all the better. Sarah made delicious cinnamon buns and the boys tried to fish again hoping the rain would stir up the pond. Around lunch time we headed towards Asheville to the Biltmore Estate. I am the only one to have visited before but I'm pretty sure the last time I was there was about 10 years ago so it was about time. They have opened up more rooms and the prestigious Louis XV guest suite. Everyone was very impressed and we had a lovely day. The weather held out long enough for us to visit the gardens and sit in the courtyard for a while. All in all it was a great trip and made Ben and I realize how much we have missed the mountains. Definitely see us being back soon!

Ben's New "Baby"
After an incredibly stressful week at work, Ben and the boys picked me up from the office on Friday and we headed North to Canton, Georgia. We spent a wonderful evening with my Uncle Ben & Aunt Sarah dining at a sustainable seafood restaurant with Po Boys that rival the best I've had in New Orleans. It was nice to spend time with family and even better to once again prove that my pallet is expanding again!
The next morning Benny B and I headed to pick up his 911 Porsche that he has been somewhat patiently awaiting. The smile on his face when he first drove off was priceless. It makes me happy when he is so happy...even if it does mean he kicked me out of the garage for now.

Since the week had been so stressful and full of social events in the evenings, it is not surprising that my body crashed on me. The nausea coupled with severe headache knocked me out for almost the entire day on Saturday. The warning I want to give any new mama's a step behind me is do not overdo it when you reach second tri and start feeling more like yourself again. Our bodies are still working over time and need all the rest they can get.
Luckily for me; Sallie, Maggie, and Ben catered to me and let me nap the day away to get my body back on track. I finally drug myself out of bed to join them for a late dinner at Atlanta hot spot No Mas. The owners have created an ambiance that makes you feel like you are in Mexico for the evening and not in downtown ATL chaos. It was much fun even though I had to be deposited back at home while the rest of the crew went out on the town.
Today I am heading to a baby shower for one of my good friends at work. She is due to bring a little boy to be named Andrew this July. It is exciting for me that our kiddies will be in the same age range as she is my only close friend in Atlanta in the Mama Hood. Will post details on all the fun later!

Books & More
So my husband truly is the sweetest man ever. I returned home last night to find a trail of cards and baby's first books with sweet notes from my honey/our baby. He took the time to write a note to Mommy on the front cover of each book from our little Gator tator. How sweet is that?
We went to Stoney River for dinner and it was absolutely fabulous. The weather was great and we sat on the patio and were the only guests out there for the majority of our evening. We watched the sunset and enjoyed delicious meals with two complimentary desserts because of the special occasion. Highly recommended. I was even more pleased to be able to finish an entire meal that was something other than macaroni and cheese. :)

Happy Anniversary!
Two years ago I never could have imagined where we would be today. We have experienced many joys and some sorrows but we have been by each other's side through it all. I am so thankful to have such a wonderful husband to support me and even more excited to be extending our family. On February 24th we were blessed with the news that we are expecting! After a REALLY good Valentine's Day in New Orleans with my best friend and her husband, we came home to find ourselves plus one. Our baby is by no means a surprise, but we were definitely shocked that it happened so soon.
We originally said we were going to keep quiet but as soon as we left the Doctor's office with official confirmation we started calling our family and closest friends. Our Doctor told us if they are people you go to for support then you should go to them for joy. We knew we couldn't wait to tell!
I have to admit that I am new to this blogging thing and hope I am not too big of a dissapointment when it comes to exciting posts or bad grammer. Either way we want to share the journey the Buergers are on and hope you will enjoy it as much as we have so far. We look forward to hearing from everyone and seeing your posts!
