How much a child changes in a day. It seems like every day she is growing up and I am so excited for the changes and yet do not want to let go of the moments we are sharing today. She is finally gaining control of some of her motor skills and is not flailing around every time you pick her up. She can rest her hand gingerly against my skin while she is being fed, and has her eyes open much more often. In fact, it is almost 3:00 in the afternoon and she has not closed her eyes for more than twenty minutes since 8:30 this morning. I hope this means she will be sleeping a long time tonight and not that she is suffering from insomnia. It has also been a week of firsts, from her first stroller ride through the neighborhood, first Emory soccer game, and first bath. Each deserve an individual post with picture to share the joy. One such moment however I do not want to post pictures of but it went a little something like this:
I had Abney in the irritation station (or diaper changing station) and it was time to change her into daytime attire. I picked up my little doll and looked down to say "What on earth is that?" It was her umbilical cord stump, it had finally fallen off! Yay! It was not as dramatic as I had imagined but still pretty ew factor in my book. Mom says we should plant it in the backyard, gross but I guess I will do it. Abney looks like she may be an outie but only time will tell.

I've got $10 on Charlie or Stanley digging that stump up. Double ew. :-) ~Lindsay
